An ocean voyage, wind and freedom
There are trips that are not just trips, but real encounters with a place.
Our journey along the Wild Atlantic Way it was just that: l’Ireland in 14 giorni on the road, between scenic roads, impetuous ocean, authentic villages and landscapes that constantly change light.
We followed the west coast of Ireland starting from Dublin, crossing some of the most spectacular regions of the island: the wild peninsulas of the south, the lonely expanses of Connemara and the remote lands of Donegal, until you reach Malin Head, the northernmost point of the entire route. The Wild Atlantic Way isn't just a coastal road: it is a journey made of wind, silences and views that take your breath away, is stopping more often than expected, take a side road and discover places that weren't planned.

Day 1 – Da Dublino a Kinsale
Overnight stay: Welcome Snug Kinsale – Kinsale, County Cork
We leave Dublin behind with the enthusiasm of those who know that something special is starting. Along the way south we stop at Rock of Cashel, imposing and solitary, towering over the Irish countryside like a guardian of the weather.
In the late afternoon we arrive at Kinsale, one of the most colorful and romantic towns in Ireland, where the sea and colorful houses give us our first real taste of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Days 2 e 3 – West Cork e Bantry
2 nights: Bru Na Pairc B&B – Bantry, County Cork
🗓 Day 2
The coast of West Cork welcomes us with panoramic roads and authentic atmospheres. Before arriving in Bantry we stop at Charles Fort, then we cross Clonakilty and we reach the suggestive Baltimore Beacon, where the ocean begins to take center stage.
🗓 Day 3
It is one of the most intense days of the trip. The peninsula of Mizen Head gives strong emotions:
the suspension bridge over the sea, the wind blowing relentlessly, the light that changes every minute.
Let's visit the Fixed Rock Lighthouse, we walk on the golden sand of Barley Cove Beach, we stop at School and we remain speechless in front of the ruins of Dunlough Fort (Three Castles), perched on the edge of the ocean.
Days 4 e 5 – Verso Killarney
2 nights: Ardree House B&B – Killarney, Contea in Kerry
🗓 Day 4 – Ring of Beara
Arriving in Killarney we travel the entire route Ring of Beara, a less touristy but incredibly wild ring.
Villages like Eyeries e God they seem suspended in time, surrounded by mountains, pastures and sea.
🗓 Day 5 – Ring of Kerry
Il Ring of Kerry gives us one of the most scenic days of the trip:
and Kenmare a Derrynane Bay, passing through ancient stone forts, golden beaches and the magnificent Skellig Ring, where the landscape becomes almost unreal.
Day 6 – Killarney e Dingle
1 Night: Alpine Guesthouse – Dingle, Contea in Kerry
Before leaving Killarney we immerse ourselves in the national park again, then we reach Inch Beach, an endless expanse of windswept sand.
Arrived at Dingle, let's set off straight away Dunquin Pier: one of those places that remain in the heart, we then head towards Blasket Islands, in front of us, they seem to tell stories of an ancient and resilient Ireland.
Day 7 – Da Dingle a Bunratty
1 Night: Bunratty Castle Mews B&B – Bunratty, County Clare
We leave the Dingle peninsula with a bit of nostalgia and head towards Bunratty, where we visit the famous Bunratty Castle. Walking within its medieval walls is like taking a step back in time.
Days 8 e 9 – Connemara, wild land
2 nights: Crossriver B&B – Oughterard, County Galway

Before reaching Connemara we deviate towards Loop Head and the spectacular Kilkee Cliffs, lesser known but incredibly suggestive.
When we arrive in Connemara, we immediately understand that we are in a special place: pure nature, silence and infinite spaces.
🗓 Day 9
Let's explore the heart of the region:
Clifden, Roundstone (one of the most beautiful fishing villages of the trip), the overview Sky Road, the fairytale Kylemore Abbey and the majestic Killary Fjord, Ireland's only fjord.
Day 10 – Sligo verse
1 Night: Pearse Lodge Sligo – Sligo, Contea in Sligo
The journey continues north. Along the way we stop at the mysterious ones Fields Drive and the spectacular cliffs of Downpatrick Head, where the ocean shows all its power.
Days 11-12-13 – Donegal, the most authentic heart
3 nights: Dream Lodge – Maghery, County Donegal
Il Donegal it is one of our favorite places. Before arriving we visit Glencar Waterfall, Rosses Point, the imposing Benbulben and the town of Ardara.
We stay three nights at Dream Lodge by Claudio and Laura, a Maghery, two extraordinary people who made us feel at home and gave us valuable advice on discovering the real Ireland.
Let's catch up Malin Head, the northernmost point of Wild Atlantic Way, thus completing the entire journey.

Day 14 – Return to Dublin
We leave Donegal with full hearts and return to Dublin, aware of having experienced one of the most intense and authentic journeys ever.
End of trip thoughts
L’Ireland he taught us not to rush, to stop even when there was "nothing to see", because in reality it was all there: the wind, the silence, the sound of the ocean.
There were times when the street was completely empty, the sky changed color in a few minutes and we felt incredibly small... but also in the right place, no words were needed but it was enough to look at each other and smile. Il Donegal, il Connemara, the southern peninsulas: each place has left us something different. Sometimes amazement, sometimes peace, other times that sweet melancholy that comes when you know that a moment is special and will never be the same again.
The people met along the way — in the B&B, we pub, along the way — they made this journey even more real. We were not tourists passing through, but guests welcomed with kindness and curiosity. When we left Ireland, we didn't have the feeling of saying goodbye but just of saying "Soon"… Because certain places are not visited just once, they carry inside.
And sooner or later, they call you back…
